Could someone let me know please what the purpose is of friend invitations on this site, what does it do?

Good question Trisha. Near as I can figure (I've only been on this site for a short while) it lets you send a private message. Other than that I haven't a clue and I'd really like to know too. :-)

I think thats it Maggie, someone here said that it just enables you to send a private message. I was confused for a bit because this is a very complicated forum in comparison with others, with the others I have been on you can send a private message to anyone and you dont need to make them a friend first. there is no friend request facility, so was not sure what it was for here.
