Oh gosh ! He did a lot of albums in the 90's wrote a lot of great songs---I'm having a brain freeze :(. I just know, when I try to pick an era, I find they all have their wonderful, sensual, areas and it's hard to pick just one. When I watch Neil in the Madison Square Garden 2008-9 concert footage--he still looks sexy, youngish-sometimes almost boyish and I still find him attractive. So I can only say the favorite Season of Neil Diamond started in 1971 the BBC concerts and has continued all these years. I will always have a special season for Neil--as long as he and I live.......and I hope that's very very long.......Alyce V
He did bring great music to our worlds I JUST LOVE THE MAN HE HAS DONE WELL IN HIS CAREER THE JAZZ SINGER WAS FANTASTIC AND WHEN i SAW HIM IN PERSON IN 2011 IT WAS A MOMENT I WILL NEVER FORGET BUT HE DOES NOT HAVE ANY LUCK WITH THE WOMEN LIKE THE DOES WITH HIS MUSIC HE DOES WELL BUT I DO NOT THINK THAT HE AND KATIE WILL LAST IN THE YEAR 2010 HE WAS SINGLE BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO RACHEL FARLEY ? Permalink Reply by Alyce V on February 11, 2012 at 1:17pm Sharon-- Rae had a similar back problem when with Neil - she went for the surgery and it only made her worse--to a point where she could barely walk. Very sad story, because they got along so well, I think they were really in love-but she was also legally deaf and couldn't really enjoy Neil's music. I have no idea why she worked in a position in Australia that put her in constant contact with singers and other musical performers. Nevertheless, eventually the pain grew unbearable for her and they broke up and she went back to her family in Australia. I have no idea how she is, I would love to check that out some time....But he wrote "Dreams" with her in mind, and as you know the songs from that CD are all very sullen. It was originally called "Alone Again"--I actually ordered it as Alone again - but when it arrived - it was called "Dreams". So that's all I know about that situation.......Hugs
Permalink Reply by Jewel Diamond on February 13, 2012 at 6:15am I think they were really in love, Neil said he didnt leave her side for a year when she was in pain, and also he proposed to her, he said it only needed 2 of them and a witness. I feel a bit sad typing this, as it reminds me yet again what a wonderful caring and supportive partner Neil is, and how hard it is to find anyone with all his qualities for oneself.

Permalink Reply by Jewel Diamond on February 13, 2012 at 6:20am I dont think we will have any real idea whether it will work very well with Katie, while we dont know why he broke up with Rae. He met Katie at the same time he broke up with Rae in 2008, which is quite a coincidence. So did he leave Rae for Katie, even tho he appeared to be truly in love with Rae; did Rae selflessly end the relationship to set Neil free due to her poor health; did it naturally come to an end and he met Katie soon after. If the latter this is a good sign for the forthcoming marriage.
We dont have a right to know these things, but we are interested in his relationships because we are interested in him! His relationships can help us know what he is like.
Mary, I agree with Alyce that's a tough one, but I do have to say I love him now more than ever! I have mentioned before in other discussions that I'm partial to older and distinguished men. My husband was that and so is Neil. When I listen to him and watch him on a DVD or a TV special I feel a special connection to my husband who as you know has passed away 2 1/2 yrs. ago. May sound kind of silly, but that's the way I feel. May I add that my husand also loved to dance to his music along with me of course. Had to get that in...........
