Just finished performing 2 shows with Elvis tribute artists and it reminded me of something I'd heard before.  I was in New York this summer and I heard an interview with Joe Esposito recorded previously, he's from Elvis's real entourage.  Joe said to a group of impersonators, "none of you look or sound like Elvis, you all look and sound like each other".  I thought that was really funny.

Hey Denny, you have to try to get a gig up in Northern Wisconsin. Maybe I can make a trip down to see you play some time this summer

The show was great. We had 500 people. Everyone had a great time and of course Neils tunes rocked the house. We would expect nothing else.

Three of the biggest names ever to stalk a stage in Las Vegas perform together this weekend in Schererville.

Sort of.

"The Knight, The Diamond & The King," coproduced by Omar Farag of O.M.A.R. Presents in Gary, presents legendary performers portrayed in full costume by entertainers Irv Cass (Tom Jones), Denny Diamond (Neil Diamond) and Rick Saucedo (Elvis Presley). Backing the trio will be The Fabulous Ambassadors, a show band directed by Danny Lentino since the early 1970s.

"The Ambassadors open the show for about 25 minutes on our own, then we back Irv as 'Tom Jones' for about 30 minutes, Denny as 'Neil' for about 50 minutes, and, following a 15-minute intermission, we return to perform with Rick as 'Elvis'," coproducer Lentino said.

...snip

Denny Diamond of Lyons, Ill., got his start after performing a Neil Diamond song on a television program in 2000 aptly titled, "Your Big Break." It proved to be his, as offers from booking agents immediately came his way.

Diamond said "2008 was my best year yet." His sons Lucas and Spencer will join the Ambassadors in backing their father on Saturday.

Since he is only a third of the show at this event, Diamond will not do all the usual costume changes and various "periods" of Diamond's rhinestone-studded career.

"This (show) will be the 'Hot August Night'-era and I'll be doing all the favorites like 'Sweet Caroline,' 'Cracklin' Rosie,' 'Cherry, Cherry,' 'Kentucky Woman' and maybe even a couple from 'The Jazz Singer.' "

WHAT: The Knight, The Diamond & The King Saturday with dinner seating 6 to 7 p.m. and showtime at 8 p.m.
WHERE: Halls Of St. George, 905 E. Joliet St., Schererville
COST: $35 to $49, all ages

Denny Diamond

Chicago's Denny Diamond may not look like the "Jazz Singer" star, but when he opens his mouth, he's got the pipes.

"This came about after I appeared on a Dick Clark-produced TV show called, 'Your Big Break,' featuring people who sounded like but didn't look like famous singers," Diamond said.

Though he took second place to a Barry White sound-a-like, Diamond got flooded with offers to perform.

"I figured it'd be fun to do for while but never dreamed it'd become a full-time thing," he said.

"I like Neil's blue jean-wearing 'Hot August Night'-era the best," he said. The show includes costume changes and plenty of hits like 'Holly Holy', 'I Am I Said,' 'Cracklin' Rose,' and 'Love On The Rocks' to name a few. FYI: dennydiamond.com
