Neil's Gift

Do you realize what you've given us?

I think not.

Music comes and goes.

Lullabies, a child's song,

Classical works by Bach and Brahms,

Musical scores from movies we loved,

Crooners, waltzes and rock and roll.

But you don't fit at all in there.

Your songs lie somewhere else.

The words and music pour from your soul,

Touching a much deeper part in us.

Your voice so rich and full of what you feel,

Awakens us and makes us take a second look around,

At love, at life, and at the majesty of just one single rose.

You wrote for you, not for us, but each word and note,

Brings out the thoughts and feelings that we share.

A lover's kiss, the gentlest touch,

Or just the breath of someone that we love.

Your sensitive heart has gifted us

With what we could never write ourselves,

And as we've aged, the gift has never died.

You keep on giving more,

With each and every song you write.

You've meant much more than just some music man,

And because of that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

You've led us down a road so full of who you are,

We feel you are a part of us, a gift of love, in some eternal way.

He has touched us all in so many different ways that it"s sometimes difficult to put into words just what he means to us individually. But the way your words are written means that we can all put our own interpretation on them via our own experiences of life,thoughts & feelings. You know, I think if Neil ever read any of your words about the way his performances & songs affect us, he would be so happy! After all, it gives real meaning to the reason why he continues to move & excite us....the love he gives out, is being returned by fans the world over...what better reason could he need to continue performing!

If you google him and also look up Live Nation there is a contact them button, and the postal address, I supplied it to someone on this forum but cant remember where it is now. I think Neil would particularly love to read this poem, as it means so much to him how his fans react to him.
