Comment by Lynn Collins on January 2, 2012 at 4:18pm When I watch this my heart just swells with pride - as if Neil was a family member or something. Anyone else feel that way?
Neil is twenty years older than I am, but I have similar feelings about him as I have about my son. When my first-born was young he had learning difficulties and I felt like others looked down on him. I was always sticking up for him, pulling for him, defending him. Now, he is twenty-five and a biomedical engineer. I'm so proud of him - but then I always have been. Like Neil's fans have always stuck-up for Neil. Now others are finally acknowledging what we have always known: He is a treasure and his life is a gift to us all.
Comment by JB on December 31, 2011 at 6:22pm Trisha...had my name on a wait-list for months....didnt find out I had tickets until the day of the event, actually only 5-6 hours in advance. It was invitation only, but if there were cancellations there was a one-in-a-million chance of getting in. There was dinner and dancing after the show and that is when I got to meet him. Went to DC with dress clothes and we decided we would watch the Steeler game at my son's place and make a day of it, just in cast we didnt get tix. Luckily we got in. :-) !!!!!
From where we were sitting, I could not see Neil's face during the event--Thank you Trish for the video!

Comment by JB on December 31, 2011 at 5:55pm It was definitely a great night.....I admit, I was THERE. The tribute to Neil was AWESOME. I would love to know what Neil was thinking when they sang Sweet Caroline because I thought the roof might blow right up into the stars! I did get to meet Neil (briefly) after the show; he was very happy! I can't tell you how happy I was... It was just AWESOME!
Seeing his mum and dad dancing at 00.30, I always though Neil had his mums eyes but look at his Dad eyes, Wow!!
Comment by Gloria on December 31, 2011 at 1:29pm It was fun watching this on the 27th...My only wish was that Neil had been last as I do believe that his segment was a definite "showstopper"...My guess is that Sweet Caroline will become some sort of American "song" right up there with Star Spangled Banner, America etc...good to see you got this so the gals could see this abroad...regards & best wishes Gloria xoxo
Comment by Jewel Diamond on December 31, 2011 at 12:25pm What a joy to see Neil so happy and overwhelmed, he truly deserves this accolade, as the film said, he was rejected for a long time before he became a success. So lovely to see the expressions on his face
thank you so much for sharing this, i have tears in my eyes, the beautiful rendition of Hello Again through to seeing Neil so happy and yet humble. Truly wonderful we wont get to see this here in Australia so thank you so much
Comment by richard shirley on December 31, 2011 at 6:57am I loved John Lithgow introduction, you can tell he's a huge fan. All 4 performers were good but Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland did outstanding version of "hello again." *** Most of you probably know, but Sugarland includes "Sweet Caroline" in a medley in their concerts. I thought the entire show with all 5 honorees was very well done, very entertaining.
